- Generate all needed graphical lists in one step (Advanced)
Preview window with possibility to zoom and pan available (from Basic level)
Smart black box symbols implemented (from Basic level)
Reduce the number of symbols to create by using smart black boxes. Smart lines inside the black box will automatically create connection points at those places where they are touched by a wire. Of course wires are interrupted in case you draw them across a smart black box symbol.
Overbooked coils or no type assigned - search for good types (from Standard level)
Save a lot of time you needed to spend searching for the right type of a coil/relay in the type database. It is possible now to filter only for those types for a coil (and components with auxiliary contacts) that offer the necessary number of contacts already used in the workspace.
Example: If there is a coil found on the diagram and 2 NO contacts -> software will search for all types which have 2 and more NO contacts and a coil with the same kind as this found on the diagram.
The contact filter is added to a currently existing filter. This means: if you for example already defined a filter for a supplier system will search for suitable contacts only in types of selected supplier.
“Copy page” command moved to Standard level
Reduce the number of clicks when copying a page inside a workspace with the command “Copy page” which is moved from Advanced to Standard level in V7R1.
The functions “Insert gap” and “Remove gap” found in context menu in workspace explorer for all pages have been moved from Advanced to Standard level from V6R1 build 11 on.
Graphical lists: generate all necessary graphical lists in one step (Advanced level)
No more graphical lists that are not generated again after changes in a workspace are made. As an user of Advanced level you now can generate all necessary graphical lists in one step: define which lists to generate and just start the process again at any time you need it.
Sort order of documents in workspace tree can be adapted to user specific needs (Advanced level)
To release users from resorting their pages after print, it is possible now to sort the different kinds of documents in user defined order for example like this:
- cover sheet
- document list
- circuit diagrams
- other graphical lists.
Document list and export to PDF via the Intelligent PDF export module of course follow this sort order too.
Layer manager: change attributes for multiple layers (from Basic level)
Do not waste time any more to change the attributes of one layer after the other, but change them all at at once!. In case you select multiple layer, on the right side of the layer window an editor is shown that allows changing attributes for visibility, colour, line type etc.
Pull down list to choose component name from offers more comfort (from Basic level)
You did not find the component you have been looking for easily in pull down list with the component names in the past? Take a look at our new component name dialog. It offers filtering and sorting functionality and as an additional benefit shows the products description.
Exchange source languages in translation database and workspaces (Advanced level)
Business is getting more and more international. Companies own subsidiaries in several countries using different languages and development of a system can be started in one or another. Maintenance is done in a different country perhaps. Doing like this it is necessary to exchange the source languages used in workspaces but also in translation database, because this is obliged to be able to use a common one in the whole company.
SEE Electrical V7 supports the exchange of source language to a translated language for workspaces as well as for the translation database.
Import multiple DXF/DWG pages from one file (from Basic level)
Some Electrical CAD systems export their circuit diagrams all in one file. In this case a separate layer is used for each page.
SEE Electrical now offers the possibility to import several layers found in such a DWG- or DXF-file to different pages.
Use of hyperlinks introduced
To benefit from information provided for example by manufacturers, you can link external information to your drawings easily now (from Basic level): add a hyperlink (to internet or to file found on local hard disk / on intranet) to each graphical object found in SEE Electrical drawings you need one - if necessary store the link together with your symbol in your symbol library.
Objects carrying a hyperlink can be marked in the drawing. PDF files generated with the SEE Electrical Intelligent PDF generator modules support the hyperlinks defined.
Also in type database (from Standard level on) hyperlinks can be added to each articles information to help you keep In touch with information supplied by manufacturer.
Copy facilities improved in case functions used (Advanced Level)
Speed up your processes again in case you need to copy functions from several workspaces into one target workspace. A new tool allows for example to start development of an electrical system by several persons in several workspaces and combine the different function groups easily at the end. Prerequisite is, that each function is found only in one workspace.
Predefine line type for function and location boxes (From Standard level on)
In case function and location is used, it is possible now in the "Workspace properties", "General" tab in the section "Function / Location" to define the line type used in case function and location boxes are drawn. By default line type "solid" is used.
Enhancements in use of Aspects (Advanced level)
A lot of enhancements have been made to support standard ISO/IEC 81346 that will become more and more important.
- nested aspects are supported
- it is possible to use absolute aspects
- product aspect can be managed in page template.
The function aspect in this example shows relative and absolute parts. The functions =FU2 and =FU3 are subfunctions of =FU1 defined for the page. =FU4 is not a subfunction of =FU1 so with the > sign it is marked absolute
Assign potential name to terminal number (Advanced level)
A new command allows it to assign automatically the potential name found on the wire as terminal number to the terminal connected to this wire. The name of the terminal strip is not affected. Prerequisite is, that the setting "Signal types for wires" in the "Circuit diagram properties", "Wires" tab is enabled. Additionally it is requested that potentials are managed as wires if terminals are inserted in potential lines.
Support product list in compressed format (Advanced level)
New functionality has been introduced into SEE Electrical V7R1 to allow to generate a compressed product list as a database list or to insert the compressed list of products related to a page into this page.
The compressed product list summarizes components with the same type, so it may look like:
Description from type database
Coil 1NO, 1NC
K1, K5-K6, K10
Coil 2NO, 2NC
Interface to Phoenix Contact and Wago software implemented (from Basic level)
If the Wago software applications ProServe Smartscript or/and ProServe Smartdesigner or the Phoenix software applications Clipproject Marking or/and Clipproject Planning are installed on a PC, data can be exported to this solutions. So tags can be generated easily.
In terminal list additionally the command to export to Wago ProServe Smartdesigner or Phoenix Clipproject Planning is available and the planning of terminal strips can be finalized by using the data from the circuit diagrams directly.
Enhancements in Graphical lists (from Basic level on)
Make your simple graphical lists like document list, product list, cable list graphical lists look nicer by:
- showing line numbers (= consecutive numbers)
- generate content by combinining several values in one entry. For example for components with more than one type the product list can now be generated in a much nicer and easier way.
Connector-Matrix and Connector Plan (Advanced level)
To complete the management of connectors introduced in SEE Electrical V6, SEE Electrical V7 allows to generate connector matrix and/ or connector plan.
Dynamically reorganize components on rails (Cabinet Module)
The new command allows a quick optimisation of cabinet after components have been deleted or moved.
Example shows result of "Align left" command.
New Module: Environment Synchronizer
A lot of clients requested a method to easily update the local workstation installation of SEE Electrical and SEE Electrical environments like symbol libraries and templates. Many users are not able to work with SEE Electrical on the network because they often work from home or in the field or simply want the best performance when making the diagrams. For this reason many people decide to install SEE Electrical and the environment on the local workstation.
This gives a lot of challenges for administrator to make sure all users are using the correct environment and version of SEE Electrical. Now with the help of SEE Electrical Environment Synchronizer the administrator just has to update all files on a central server and automatically SEE Electrical Environment Synchronizer will update all local workstations next time SEE Electrical is started and connected to the network.
SEE Electrical Environment Synchronizer requires no interaction from the local user; all is automatically done in the background.
